Since 1963 the Poltava Ukrainian Dance Company has been a vital part of the Ukrainian community in Western Pennsylvania and the tri-state area. Founded as “Molod’ Ukrainy” (Youth of Ukraine). Poltava has worked to achieve a high level of professionalism. This has been accomplished in great part to the deep commitment of the company’s founder and director, Luba Hlutkowsky and of the more than 400 dancers who have been part of the company.
During these years, Poltava has performed in New York, Tennessee, Kentucky and throughout the Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia areas. In addition, Poltava can been seen every year at the Pittsburgh Folk Festival representing the Ukrainian community. The goal of the company has always been to provide the youth of the Ukrainian community an opportunity to experience their Ukrainian heritage and to present this rich heritage to the general public.
Today, the children of the former Poltava members are performing in the children’s ensemble and training for the senior company. This is perhaps the greatest testimony to Poltava. It is the hope of the current company that the legacy of Poltava will continue through this new generation.
This Year Poltava is celebrating its 50th anniversary on May 26th, with a Concert at The Carnegie Free Library Auditorium, at 2:30 pm, and a Banquet at the Doubletree Hotel by Hilton at 6:30 pm.

The Ukrainian community of western Pennsylvania will hold its fourth annual Ukrainian Independence Day Celebration on Sunday, August 26, at SNPJ Lodge in Imperial (please refer to the attached documentation for pertinent details).
Ukraine’s independence would not have been possible were it not for the sanctifying grace of God and the inestimable efforts and sacrifice of our Churches in sustaining the Christian faithful in the face of brutal and unrelenting persecution. In this regard, the celebration of Ukrainian independence is not simply a nationalistic celebration, but a celebration of the triumph of Ukraine’s Christian heritage.
To facilitate the inclusion of this advertisement, the advertisement has been provided in two formats, pdf and jpeg. Please note that two files have been attached. The first is the flyer, while the second is a map and directions to the new venue. Please make certain to include both pages in the bulletin. The Committee asks that you run this ad from July 15 through August 26. Moreover, as not everyone reads the bulletin, the Committee further requests that an accompanying verbal announcement be made during liturgies. When making the announcement, please emphasize the change of venue.

Уточнені дані людських втрат міг би дати всесоюзний перепис населення 1937 року. Однак його результати були знищені, а виконавці репресовані.
На знак вшанування пам’яті невинних жертв Голодомору у суботу 24 листопада 2012 року з 16 год. приєднуйтесь до всеукраїнської акції “ЗАСВІТИ СВІЧКУ!” Із настанням темряви засвітіть і поставте свічку на підвіконня так, щоб її було видно знадвору. Цей вогник символізуватиме нашу скорботу і пам’ять про мільйони загублених життів співвітчизників. А також на честь пам’яті жертв геноциду Українського народу вшануйте їх хвилиною мовчання о 16 годині.
